    <title>Call for participants for a workshop in Cyprus on Facilitating Dialogue Circles</title>
    <link>https://activecitizensfund.cy/News/ID/117/Call-for-participants-for-a-workshop-in-Cyprus-on-Facilitating-Dialogue-Circles</link>
    <description>Are you a civic activist eager to enhance your dialogue skills and foster democratic conversations in your community? We are seeking twelve (12) participants from Cyprus, to attend a 1.5-day workshop on the facilitation of Dialogue Circles, conducted by experts from LAMPA Conversation Festival in Latvia.

The Fund Operators of the Active Citizens Fund programme in Cyprus and Latvia are co-organising a workshop with the aim to inspire, heal, and build more democratic and tolerant societies, through the Dialogue Method. Dialogue is a method of democratic conversation that enables individuals to better understand the topic at hand, other people&amp;#39;s thoughts, and their own positions. It is a powerful tool for achieving new solutions and insights collectively while maintaining a human connection. Unlike debates, discussions, or consensus-building, dialogue does not aim to prove a point or achieve unanimity. Instead, it seeks to explore different perspectives and foster mutual understanding. The concept and the method was developed in Finland under the name Timeout dialogue (www.timeoutdialogue.fi) and has been successfully adapted and implemented in Latvia by DOTS Foundation for an Open Society and LAMPA Conversation festival in Latvia.

&amp;nbsp;

The Dialogue Method allows to:

 Understand Better: Grasp the topic, your own thoughts, and others&amp;#39; views more deeply.
 Promote Respectful Conversations: Move away from debates and discussions towards meaningful dialogues.
 Build Democratic Values: Contribute to a culture of respectful and insightful conversations in your community.
 Foster Intercultural Dialogue and Promote Tolerance: Dialogue Circles create a safe space for individuals from diverse backgrounds to share their experiences and perspectives, helping to break down cultural barriers and promote mutual respect and understanding. This process is essential for fostering tolerance and building cohesive, inclusive communities.

    <title>July Project of the Month: ReAct Together</title>
    <link>https://activecitizensfund.cy/News/ID/106/July-Project-of-the-Month-ReAct-Together</link>
    <description>Our project of the month for July is&amp;nbsp;&amp;quot;ReAct Together - Empowering and including vulnerable groups in to the society through applied drama&amp;rdquo;,&amp;nbsp;funded under the Active Citizens Fund programme in Cyprus and implemented by Motivation in Arts - MiA.

The main objective of the project is to identify groups of vulnerable young people which are potentially facing social exclusion, and collect data necessary to investigate and evaluate their rights and needs in order to enable their social inclusion and equality. Additionally, the project aims to train and raise awareness of individuals and organisations dealing with vulnerable groups of young people, proposing them a new method of approaching and integrating young people, based on theatre techniques.

As part of the project, live interactive theatre performances took place in Paphos, as well as a roundtable discussion in June 2023 to exchange views between social workers, professionals, volunteers, students and citizens who are involved in the integration of vulnerable groups in Cypriot society. The discussion will be followed by capacity building workshops on using applied theatre as a social tool. Keep track of project activities here.
